masquerade
on the 20th which was 3 days ago, i went to see the phantom of the opera at qpac :)

my parents saw it many years ago in uk so this was their second time, but for kaytee and i, it was the very first. we went with a few friends who managed to score us tickets a month ago which was a huge achievement because ppl all over aussy and even other countries were booking tickets and flying all the way here just to catch it x.x they were in melbourne before this, sydney next. if i’m not mistaken i think they were in singapore as well.
we were 4 rows away from the stage and there was this couple sitting next to us. apparently they missed the show in london so they flew over just to catch it o.o and rightly so too because it was awesome stuff! i was seriously blown away by the whole performance. everything from the cast, the music, the special effects down to the stage set up was amazing. i remember having to study the book in form 2 and i was kinda surprised by how closely the show related to it. there was the falling chandelier and la carlota’s croaky voice xD there was magic – the phantom always has some kinda special entrance in each scene wan. he appears behind a mirror, hangs onto the chandelier… , humour (firmin and andre were really funny xD), hot actors :p

alexander lewis as raoul.
i really don’t know how to describe the show in words. all i can say is that the movie doesn’t do it any justice. and i wanna see it again :(
we’re not allowed to take any pictures during the show of course xD but i managed to take a couple before and after mwahaha.

while my dad searched for the place xD

this is where most ppl had their dinners before the show. i like the mask thing :)

phantom merchandise!

this is where we get our complimentary wine before the show. yesh wine x)

inside the concert hall. all my other pictures in the hall’s darker than this one and i can’t even make out what it is T.T oh wells, i was using my phone so i guess cannot expect much.
andd that’s it :D hope you guys have a good weekend :D

still alive and at large!
if you’re still reading my blog i thank you for being so patient. and if you’re not, well you won’t be reading this. hehe neways lemme try summarise what’s been going on with me for the past few weeks. brace yourselves, long post ahead with occasional random insertions here and there because i’m like that.
i’ve finally moved outta the apartment and into a house a few weeks ago. i love the area, lotsa trees and big lawns which would be mowed by the men, of course. namely, my dad xD had too close a call with a cockroach which kaytee promptly killed for me with the bug spray. i seriously have to get used to bugs in this bug filled land. the spiders are huge here. seriously. the first day moving in, armed with our brand new vacuum cleaner, i sucked (literally) all em spiders and bugs :D it’s fun and i feel so protected with that bright green machine. it’s amazing. they’ve got almost a whole aisle in supermarkets devoted to bug (any kind of insect will be killed in an instant!) sprays, spider repellants, 10 varieties of cockroach traps and sprays, ant killers, fly stickers (to avoid using aerosol cans because that’s bad for the environment), fly traps with candle things, and my personal favourite; the insect bomb! :D sounds awesome, no? what you do is uncap the top, leave it in the room you wanna debug, switch off all electrical appliances etc, close the door and then come back 2 hours later to clear up the bug corpses. now see, the reason for switching off electric appliances and cables is that the bomb is highly flammable and explosive. that’s why it’s an insect bomb la okay. neways it’s been proven by the mythbusters (i’ve been watching ALOT of this before school started. i’m sure they show it in malaysia too, discovery channel though i’m not sure what time. do try to catch it, really funny stuff. adam and jamie whee!) and no. i didn’t get to use the insect bomb :( cause we got the pest control ppl over and my mom says it’s unnecessary to use the bomb sigh. what an opportunity. if i do use it though some time in the future i’ll be sure to share it with you guys :D
okay so apart from em insect killing adventures, we applied for internet a few days before moving in but it takes them a couple of weeks before they can fix it up here, which was yesterday. if you’ve seen me online occasionally before this it’s because i’ve been leeching off internet from my neighbour but it keeps getting cut off. now though, mwahahah finally free to surf and skii (as described by bridget jones’ mom) the internet without getting cut off or charged at 5 dollars an hour :D the internet speed is uber fast, beats streamyx any day but there’s a downside. every package you apply for here comes with a download limit x.x if you exceed the limit the uber fastness will not be so anymore. bummer right? but i don’t download movies or really huge files apart from music so i think that shouldn’t be that much of a problem.
alright school! i’m attending a high school nearby and it’s huge T.T yeah i’ve gotta wear a uniform and everything. here every school’s got different unis, not like msia which is quite cool cause you can immediately tell if someone’s from the same school or not. the rules aren’t as strict as sbu (like obviously, ribbons and folded socks? x.x) handphones and all that are allowed and there’s always ppl with ipod headphones sticking outta their shirts. my first day there was a nightmare. see, every lesson’s in a different place and they’ve got so many blocks. i was late for most of my classes because i kept getting lost T.T and then it rained really heavily and whaddaya know, the path leading to my next class was unshaded so i was drenched and late for physics. but i’m getting used to it now, well i’m getting there. i forgot where the M block was yesterday (shamelessly, after 2 weeks of attending) and had a friend show me the right direction. but that was the only time! other classes i reached prompt and dry xD in alot of ways i miss sbu, staying in the same class with the same ppl all year round. you’re stuck with them which is great cause you get so much closer. over here it’s different ppl, though a few same ones for every subject. the teachers are really good though, i have some really funny ones. one who gets really hyper and hops up and down while asking you to open up your text book. he even danced along to the music of a slideshow xD the library is awesome! geared with computers that actually work *cough* with internet and all that. good selection of books and friendly librarians.
okay, i’ve finally uploaded all the pictures! cheer with me! i know you wanna see pictures but please don’t just scroll down past all those words just to see the pics la okay darn painstaking to type all that lor. ok first up!

just in case you forgot how i look like xD alright no, the point of this picture is to show you guys how big that santa hat is. alot of really extra big jumbo sized stuff over here. observe:

(i’ve got my fingers there just to show you the proportion of the uh…things)

and my personal favourite!

:D jealous? :D
ok la my dad wants to use the com. i’ll post more next time. i promise that won’t be a few weeks later xD
oh.
happy valentines day guys :)
