earth hour

today, from 8pm – 9pm local time everyone switches off their lights to celebrate earth hour :D

my dad was like “eh! we’re missing earth hour!” at 8.15 pm. now my house is in total darkness except for my monitor screen which can’t be considered as lights ok. mwahaha make a difference :D i know it’s not 8 pm in malaysia yet so yeah, turn off em lights for just one hour ok?

easter moments

every year i look forward to easter so much. on good friday, there’s always an easter meet in church, product of our christian union society. it’s the one time my church and cu fuse in one neat little package. there’s all that planning and practices and deciding which speaker and schools to invite. and when the day comes there’s so much anticipation and we’re all so nervous all we can do is to pray for the best. i’ve danced, sung, been involved in a sketch (say hello to the shepherd :D) and had such a great time on each occasion. and that’s not the end, yf always always comes up with something. i’ll never forget the easter choir we had and how awesome we were at the end after so many practices. the glory of easter? i really miss those times. we were invited to another church to present as well and my group had to stand on these colourful plastic chairs and we looked so abnormally tall. darn funny to tower over all the guys haha. there’s another choir this year but i can’t be there :( not this time. sigh but thanks bryan for recording it :)

so what did i do this easter? nothing easter-ish really but the four day holiday was a really good break from school :) went to harbour town gold coast on saturday which is this massive shopping place. that deserves a post on it’s own so i’m gonna write about it another day, with pictures because everyone loves pictures hehe. i spent alot of time watching friends. you see, right after handing in my previous english assignment (critically analyzing the discourses and signifiers of an advertisement – huh??) my teacher thrust us with a second tasksheet. seriously lor hand in one assignment only to be given another? what is this!! this time it’s an aural presentation called unpacking the sitcom. we’re supposed to pick an episode from any sitcom and write about it. because of my love for tv and sitcoms of any kind, i had a tough time deciding on which sitcom i want yet alone the episode! scrubs, friends, king of queens, frasier, my wife and kids, futurama just to name a few. but somehow i kinda knew i would end up with friends because i really love that show. it’s one of my favourites, joey and chandler never fail to make me rofl. so okay, settled. friends it is. but then how many seasons are there again? oh yeah, ten T_______T so i googled season 5 of friends (random lor i was like, ok just go with the middle season) and printed the episode guides. from there i read through the brief episode descriptions and finally made my choice! mwahaha smart anot. the episode i chose is called the one with the ride-along. every friends episode begins with “the one with”. you can watch it here and here (because i’m a noob and i dunno how to attach the video here, sorry x.x) two parts, watch ok? really funny stuff. i love the part joey saves the sandwich xD

alright so i headed over to blockbuster to rent the dvd but they didn’t have it T.T i would’ve used the youtube one but i gotta show an excerpt of the episode to the class so cannot. the school blocks access to websites like hotmail and youtube, no fair right x.x for a moment i was like die. how? that was when a friend told me that she’s got all ten seasons of friends on her computer. how perfect is that :D somehow or rather she ended up offering me all ten seasons instead of just the episode i needed o.o so i thought, okay, i’ll pass my thumbdrive to you (a measly 2 gigs) and you save as many episodes as you can then pass it to me, when i’m done with them i pass them to you again. that’s the only way right? she was like nah, it’s okay i’ll lend you my whole external hard disk. it’s got 300 gigs of space O.O i’ve honestly never ever heard of such a wonder ever (but found out later on that apparently alot of guys back in msia have their own to fill up with porn -.-) anywayys yeah it’s amazing lor! really nice of her. the next day she passed me the hard disk which is darn heavy and really hurt my back from carrying around. but mann it’s so worth it la i’m still on season 1 right now. and yesh all ten seasons mwahaha hate m3h :D if there’s any specific episodes you guys want lemme know k i’ll try sending them over to you :)

so it’s no mystery what’s been taking up my weekend right? that’s why i only started on my draft yesterday, the day before the due date xD so yeah, i handed in my draft today and guess what? a new assignment, but of course x.x we received a copy of “to kill a mocking bird” to finish reading in the next month and because our teacher wasn’t around today, this relief made us read throughout the period which i would usually enjoy but it was really hot plus english was the last period so i was honestly about to fall asleep when this other teacher walked in and asked us to carry our tables over to the activity centre T.T that’s where the exams are gonna be, see. tomorrow till friday’s exam block for me but on the upside i get to go home early once i’m done :D and yes, trust me to decide to update my blog right before my exams :D

okay i wanted to talk about how my easter went how did i end up here.

on easter morning i woke up pretty drowsily because of sleeping late the night before. that was when my mom handed me and my sis this familiar plastic container and told us to look for the easter eggs she hid around the house xD

that last egg was tough to find. darn funny la my mom haha i don’t remember ever going on an easter egg hunt.

this is the pastry thing my friend baked me right before the easter holidays plus more chocolate eggs :D and that’s my file mwahaha.

teacher code?

this is a post of random snippets of school today, cause i don’t think i share much about the going-ons in school here. so there you go :)

when i got to my bio class later in the afternoon, my teacher went “hi kay lynn! :D”

“i’m not talking to you!”

“aw, she knows i was joking haha!” and then he told my group about what happened that morning.

there was this parent teacher breakfast in which both my parents attended. it was nice, really casual thing where everyone mingles around with drinks. and they serve really good muffins. my mom met my bio teacher among others, and was like “how’s she in class?” to which he replied

“horrible! she’s noisy, doesn’t do her homework, talks alot and she’s really naughty!”

anywayys we did this really cool experiment. so cool i even took pictures! because pictures explain so much more than words.

the one in purple’s actually albumin and that’s what happened after adding sodium hydroxide and copper sulphate. there’s this really cool cloudy mass thing that forms at first and then slowly this purple dye starts to spread :) pweedy. and the blue one’s just the same chemicals except it’s water instead of albumin and the moment you drop the copper sulphate it starts forming these blue piece like suspension things. or what we call floaties xD really cool!….and yes i just realised how nerdy that was but i don’t care la.

while shaking that in my hand he drops by the table “ain’t that pretty!”

“yeshh i even took a picture”

that’s annie back there. you see that white mortar? that’s what we used to smash the poor potato into pulps for one of the experiments. there was this one time everyone in the lab seemed to be using it and cause it’s porcelain it sounded almost… musical xD and you see that metal thing sticking outta the table at the middle end? that’s a gas supply. all this while i thought that was just a waste of space or something but we actually use it for bunsen burners. we attach this rubber tube to it that’s connected to the bunsen burner. i was like ohh is that what it’s for xD cause in sbu no need all that wan.

“alright, to those of you who have such grandeur and think so highly of yourselves, you’re all just a sack of chemicals” that’s him at it again, explaining to us (in his way of course) that chemicals are important for us.

and again.

“omg. your writing is so neat i hate it,” eh serious my writing’s alot nicer now ok. and it’s readable too! i forgot how many ppl commented on how nice my writing is. that many okay. don’t play play *bangga :D

then during physics, my teacher went “hey kaylynn, met your mom this morning”

“oh, did you say nice things about me?”

“no, i said really really terrible things!”

why are my teachers like that T.T

i’m a good student lor. serious wan.

back in sbu

spm results tomorrow… it feels so surreal. but then again, wasn’t it just yesterday that i sat in that wobbly blue wooden chair (which i had to carry 3 floors up i might add) and scribbling against the uneven surface of the blue table in the same shade of blue (which i didn’t have the strength to carry i might also add). i remember that crazy “last” day of school we had which also fell on my birthday. i didn’t tear up during the salam restu, yes even after puan shiamala (apparently the trigger of most people’s water works?) i remember alot of hugs and hand shakes and good lucks and photo taking. didn’t feel like spm was on it’s way, in fact it felt more like it was all over and done with. such was the atmosphere that hung in the air that day.

it was the last day before we all came back to school for the final of all finals. oh and when we did, what an experience it was. for me at least. i remember those early early morning car rides :) and LOL-ing when satya was appointed the monitor of the class next to mine. and walking those many many flights of stairs to the fourth floor everyday… just like old times. i remember grasping onto my IC, registration sheet and pens as i walked into 4 gamma, the class that held so many memories, about to hold even more. there it was, the first paper on the desk, face down. bahasa melayu kertas satu. two karangans in 2 hours and 15 minutes. shouldn’t be too hard right? after so many classes and format reminders and model essays and seminars and karangan homework (which i almost never completed if i could help it). remember the two peribahasa-s. at least two filled pages or don’t even expect an A. don’t pick a surat rasmi question cause there’s not sufficient isi. make sure you exceed 250 words but not 280, or was it 300 for the first karangan. funnily enough, when i flipped the page and read the questions for the first time – the same questions that would be reviewed and analyzed to bits in the following years by the next unfortunate generation of form 5-s -i smiled :) because none of the questions matched or were even close to the “tips” that’s been circulating around. i didn’t rely on them and neither should anyone ok. if it’s true, you’re cheating. if it’s not then oh hohoho you’re so screwed :P

i dunno bout you guys but it didn’t feel like i was sitting for spm at the time. like, all these years of anticipation when suddenly it’s here.. not real for sure! but then i remember the relief after that paper. and then there was that whole paper issue during est x.x i remember how nice some of the invigilators were to me, one reassured me that everything’s gonna be okay and i should look forward to my other papers because i was really worried about the stupid issue which i really didn’t even wanna be made an issue in the first place. but oh no. one kept checking if i was okay because i was feeling sick right before my addmaths paper 2 (ahhaha i wonder why T.T) then the chief gave me tissues and the bag they used to keep the papers in…. in case i had to throw up xD they’re really nice people lor beneath the stern mask they have to put on. i remember the second week *coughchokesdies* addmaths, physics, chem, moral in a row. killer. and what a blur everything was when bio was over. such euphoria i almost wanna sit for it again just to feel what it’s like again.

on another note, someone turns 18 today ;) someone i’ve been stuck in the same class with for two years, someone who lives 2 minutes away from me (gasp!), someone who’s into greys anatomy as much as i am, someone who cannot bake even with ready mix!!, someone who walks all the way to my house at 10 at night just to get important documents i have to hand in the next day (cause skipping school was a norm for me :P) because it’s not safe for girls to walk out at night ok and because he’s nice like that, the only someone who constantly reminds me that i’m fat and short -.-, someone i frequent the mamak and pasar malam with, haha i could seriously go on and on but there’s a huge pile of laundry i have to do :( no, cause it won’t end anytime soon.
