my 2009

i know i haven’t updated in ages, and i’ve been wanting to. but so many things have been happening and it’s a lil overwhelming, i’m not even sure where to begin. so, i’m just gonna say whatever comes to mind. no backspaces. alright, maybe for typos but that’s it.

so 2009′s over and done with, and what a year it’s been. that final final year of high school was such a roller coaster ride (for lack of a better term. the geek in me is thinking of a sine graph analogy). the crazy deadlines, the all-nighters, the horrible tuck shop lasagne, the warm green jumper in winter, the hideous grey skirts, experiments (titrations,titrations, titrations), foggy lab goggles, the wackiest chem group ever, orange juice, dream world, teabag rockets, caz’s million and one tuppywares every lunch time, very productive newspaper meetings, isaac and sam, wednesday assemblies, free dress days and my first ever formal (: that op1 on the 18th of december, 10 pm malaysian time was an unbelievable way to wrap up this high school experience. so surreal.

the highlight of my 2009 was undoubtedly my trip back to malaysia. it was my first time being back since i left and i was struck by how everything seemed so similar. but when examined carefully enough, i saw the subtle changes that had taken place. some pretty wonderful, others really disappointing. still, it was so good to be back. malaysia still feels like home and i’ve really missed it. and everyone there. thanks for making my trip back so wonderful, i honestly can’t wait to be back again (:

so to make up for my absolute lack of updates, my 2009, in a really brief colourful nutshell:

i was rushing out today when i saw a postcard addressed to me in the letterbox. it was from my german friend on holiday in croatia. endphrase:

i wish i could say that exciting stuff has been keeping me busy and away from my blog but alas, it’s the same old same old. exams and assignments and a ridiculously short time frame. school is my life right now, unfortunately. but in exactly 18 days it’ll be over. 20 days till my first formal. i still haven’t found the right shoes yet. 30 days till i’ll be in malaysia again.

so as i’m writing a 2000 word report on how temperature affects vitamin c content in orange juice, a speech on the big bang theory and time dilation, and a hundred reasons why australia should have a bill of rights, i’ll keep reciting those numbers.

my blog is so starved of updates. my term break just ended and it’s back to school for the craziest term yet. sigh, assignments are already building up. on a less unpleasant note, i saw harry potter yesterday! managed to get tickets at the last minute and we bus-ed our way there safely (which is a major success for me. i gotta share my bus experiences one day ._.).

i thought it was really good! the feedback i’ve heard from the movie’s been really negative =\ i think they did the best they could trying to summarise and pick out the important bits of the book. there were so many of dumbledore’s memories to choose from. i just wish they included the battle with the D.A at the end and the funeral. i won’t say who’s in case that might spoil it for anyone ;S oh and what happens to the burrow in the movie didn’t actually happen! i was like wha-? o.o that was just cruel. my other peeve was the harry-ginny relationship being really unconvincing! ):

romantic highlight of the movie: *ginny ties his shoelace* “merry christmas!”

it wasn’t my favourite hp book but i would definitely give it a watch. i cannot waiit for the next, it’s such a great idea splitting it into two parts (:

been so stressed out lately with the bulk of assignments and exams. this whole week’s exam block but we’ve had a recent hmm, interruption? the school’s gonna be closed till monday because there’s been two confirmed swine flu cases, which is… scary T.T it feels so close to home. it is close. it’s on the news and everything, feels so surreal. i hope those students get better..

in the mean time, i’ve been reading through some of the bio notes posted online. it’s on male and female bits, as my teacher so aptly puts it hahah yea we’ve been doing that chapter. anyways halfway through i saw this:

feels like ages since i was last here. i’ve been so bogged down with assignments and school stuff and to top it all off my laptop decided to go all crazy on me ._. by crazy i mean it makes this super loud engine-whirring noise you would never think possible especially coming from a machine so small and by super loud i mean audible throughout the house from my room loud >( the first time it happened i literally ran out of my room thinking it was going to explode ._. yeah go me the brave soul.

so.

hello, i’m typing this on my new laptop. i’m sorry microsoft, but i’ve gone mac :D and i’m loving it! i can’t get enough of the finger gestures on the trackpad. but i really don’t like msn messenger on this ): it’s so painfully basic and i can’t use audio/video functions AND there’s no nudge option! how am i gonna live without being able to nudge people agh! i’ll look for a solution online some time when school isn’t ruling my life sigh.

hmm, random thoughts of this and that:

• man utd ): i was up at 6 am for a school excursion when i saw the score ):
• heard today that nadal’s already out of the french open mwahahah
• i broke 3 coffee cups today. all at once ._.
• oh for the curious: my group’s pineapple wine still looks like friggin juice. it’s not clarifying at all! but we’ve been taking samples every week and it smells and tastes really alcoholic. that’s what we get for adding like 5 kgs of sugar 8D
• i haven’t really bothered to take any of those facebook quizes but the one quiz that seems appealing to me is the ‘which spongebob character are you?’ quiz. hmm…
• i honestly don’t think i’ve grown any taller since… oh, i dunno ):
• i had a legal studies exam this morning and the teacher brought chamomile tea for us to deal with those nerves. as if that wasn’t enough she baked blueberry muffins for us to eat while sitting for the paper <3 teachers don’t get sweeter than this.
• i didn’t take a blueberry muffin because i was too nervous! i’m regretting it now dang those muffins looked really good too ):
• i’m going on a daytrip to canberra tomorrow and the flight’s at 6 am which means i gotta be up by about 3.30. not sure whether to sleep now or just not bother. i’m really excited though!
• i think i’m probably the least prepared for the coming school prom. sorry, i meant formal. apparently, prom is “so american” x.x but still, it’s months away why do i need to start dress shopping now >(
• my highlights are really weird now they’re only on like half of my hair length. i could actually start a new fashion trend :D
• i went to a winery recently and i thought it would be really cool but all we got to see were bare vineyards and huge steel vats and more steel vats…
• today’s the first day of winter! warm jumpers and scarves ftw
• okay final point! did anyone watch the recent britain’s got talent episodes? i’m so glad diversity won!!! yes, they beat susan boyle and i think they really deserve it. i’ve been rooting for them since i saw their first audition. if you haven’t seen their dance acts i seriously recommend you check them out! especially the first one.
